Named a 2018 Pittsburgh Business Times 30 Under 30 winner, Joel Goodloe leads a multifaceted career as a conductor, singer, choreographer, and administrator. He is currently the Associate Director of Rehearsal Planning & Artist Services at the Houston Grand Opera and the Artistic Operations Associate at The Santa Fe Opera. Prior to his appointment in Houston, he was the Associate Artistic Director of the Pittsburgh Festival Opera, where he oversaw all aspects of production, operations, and casting. He served as the assistant conductor and chorus director for Resonance Works | Pittsburgh, and prepared choruses for a variety of their past projects ranging from opera to sacred choral music. He has guest conducted the Akron Symphony Chorus and Carnegie Mellon choirs and had a five year tenure the assistant conductor of the Carnegie Mellon All University Orchestra. As a singer, he has appeared with the GRAMMY Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, the Pittsburgh Camerata, and numerous times as a soloist with Chatham Baroque, in projects ranging from Bach’s St. John Passion to Biber’s Requiem in A Major. In 2017 he performed Schubert’s Winterreise at the National Opera Center in New York, giving the North American premiere of a new English translation by director Jeremy Sams. He was named a Pittsburgh Concert Society Young Artist winner and worked as an Apprentice Artist with Charlottesville Opera. His choreography for opera has been seen in Pittsburgh, as well as in New York, Texas, and Idaho. Joel holds a degree in voice and conducting from Carnegie Mellon University, where he was a student of the late Mildred Miller Posvar, Jennifer Aylmer, and the late Robert Page.
